I don't work at a teaching hospital, so I appreciate the info. But I still wonder how he will get through his residency. Can they actually choose a specialty for their residency? I thought they had to put in their time in different rotations?

well, tomorrow is the first day of orientation and my first legal research and writing course.
i don't know what law school will consist of, but i'm anxious to find out.

recently one of my brothers sons who is a 22 yr old jw mentioned to me rather excitedly that he just got back from ozzfest 2007, telling me him and his gf who is also a jw (elders daughter) rocked to bands such as "ozzie ozbourne" "lamb of god" "three inches of blood" and "static x" to name a few.
i was astounded by his "revelation" that he and his gf among many other younger jw kids attended this event with jw parental consent.
i remember when i was growing up around the jw religion even mentioning the name of ozzie ozbourne was reason for a trip to the back room for a "talk" with the elders.
A lot of the jw youths go to such concerts around here. And yes the parents are usually aware. I remember when I started studying and had to throw away my Black Sabbath albums, along with many others.

the greek doeas not contain the word "earlier" - nor does any other translation i checked.
Thanks for posting this. I have been keeping track of all the mistranslations of the NWT for further use. I looked up the verse in four other translations and earlier or anything like it is not used. It is obvious that it was placed there to further their 2 class belief.

I know a young witness who is about to start med school. I havn't said anything to him as it would raise a few red flags and didn't want to cause him trouble. The elders are aware of his career plans. He already has his masters and will start the actual practice of dealing with patients soon.
What does he do, I wonder? Say it's against his religion? I know from the pecking order in hospitals that this would not go over too well for him. I'm just watching to see what happens.

I know an RN who wrote the society to ask if it was ok to hang blood. The answaer was it is a conscience matter as she was just following orders. It did state that doctors could not order blood transfusions, however.
I was wondering myself if a jw doctor could still not order a blood transfision for a patient. How would they ever get through med. school and their residency?
i always heard comments that there were faces and other objects in the falls on p 93. now i think i have finally confirmed this.
i scanned page 93 using only 300 dpi scanner and did some colour correction and sharpened the image a bit using photoshop .the result is surely jesus and there is also a face of a young kid below jesus.
now i think that the falls image contains a plurality of peoples faces, some people are standing and others just see the face only.. you can clearly make out a gash in jesus forehead.
I only have one question-WHY? What's the point? Oops maybe that was two.

I took speed reading courses in school that also helped you to increase you comprehension. The basic tactic was to learn to read in groups of words and to think the same way to improve comprehension. It does work, but like everything else the more you actuallt practise it, the better it works.

i have been wondering for a while if the new koolaid version of the watchtower will try to crack down on faders in some way.
i read about the marking talk of nvrgbk's brother and i wonder if this is a sign of things to come.
i know the elders do not like to have loose ends out there that they can neither control or influence.. what do you think?

I guess we have a very proactive couple of elders here where I used to attend. They like to spy on people and relish the thought of catching them in something that is totally private. More like private detectives, I guess. The only way I can see that I could live my life as I choose, holidays, etc., would be to move away. But my family is here and I don't choose to do that.
I think the jw only issue is for more than financial reasons, though. I think a crackdown is coming.
